Terms of Service

Last updated: September 13, 2026

Agreement to these terms

Phosphor is an educational application that provides course readings, interactive lessons, quizzes, and an AI assistant. It is operated by Phosphorescence Ltd. (“we,” “us”), a privately held company, and is not owned or operated by any school or institution whose coursework it supports. By creating an account or using the application, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the application.

Eligibility and accounts

  • Access is granted for coursework and is limited to invited or enrolled users.
  • You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account, and you may not share your account or sign-in credentials with anyone else.
  • Account information must be accurate. Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
  • Access may end when your enrollment in the relevant course ends.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to access accounts, data, or areas of the application that are not yours, including instructor or administrative functions.
  • Probe, scan, disrupt, or overload the application, or circumvent authentication, usage limits, or other technical controls.
  • Scrape, bulk-download, republish, or redistribute course content, quiz questions, or answers.
  • Use automated tools to interact with the application except as expressly permitted.
  • Submit unlawful, harassing, or intentionally harmful content, or use the application in violation of applicable law.
  • Reverse engineer the application or attempt to extract underlying prompts, models, or system instructions.

Academic integrity

Phosphor is a study tool, not a substitute for your own work. Your course's academic honor policies govern how you may use it, including how you may use AI assistance on graded work. Where these terms and your course policy differ, your course policy controls. Quiz scores and completion records may be shared with your instructor and teaching staff.

AI features

  • The AI assistant, interactive lessons, and automated grading produce output that can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Verify anything important against course materials or your instructor.
  • AI output is not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.
  • Automated grades and feedback are provisional. Your instructor is the final authority on grades and course credit.
  • AI features depend on third-party providers and may be rate-limited, changed, or unavailable at any time.
  • Do not submit sensitive personal information to the AI assistant.

Content and ownership

Course materials, lessons, assessments, and the application itself are owned by their respective authors and rights holders. You receive a personal, non-transferable, and revocable permission to use them for your own coursework. No other rights are granted.

You keep ownership of what you write — quiz answers, chat messages, and other submissions. You grant us permission to store and process that content to operate the application, support instruction, and maintain and improve the service.

Privacy

Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Notice, which forms part of these terms. Using the application means you accept the data practices described there, including processing by third-party service providers.

Availability and changes

The application is under active development. Features, content, and availability may change or be removed without notice, and the service may be interrupted for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We do not guarantee that your data will be preserved indefinitely; keep your own copies of work that matters to you.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access at any time, including for violations of these terms, for security reasons, or when a course concludes. You may stop using the application at any time and may request deletion of your data as described in the Privacy Notice.

Disclaimers and liability

The application is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost coursework, or academic outcomes arising from your use of the application.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the application evolves. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version, and continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
